Peter Rechmann, DMD, PhD


Peter Rechmann, DMD, PhD, Prof. Dr. med. dent., is at the University of California, San Francisco, Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences. He is Director of the Clinical Sciences Research Group. He has been involved in clinical research for more than 39 years. His clinical research relates to caries prevention including the application of new oral care products, laser/light-based diagnostic tools and new delivery systems for caries prevention. He has also been involved in laboratory and clinical research dealing with lasers in dentistry for more than 37 years. In collaboration with the California Dental Association he established a Practice Based Research Network in the San Francisco Bay Area. With this network of 30 dentists he has run a CAMBRA – Caries Management by Risk Assessment – prospective, double blind, randomized clinical trial with a control and an active intervention group. Dr. Rechmann is successfully funded by Industry Grants and has published over 150 papers and book chapters.
