Johan Aps, DDS, MSc, PhD
Dr. Johan Aps is a native from Belgium, who received his training in dentistry (DDS) from the Ghent University in Belgium in 1993. He subsequently obtained his training in pediatric dentistry at the same institute in 1997 and his PhD in 2002. He pursued a Master degree in Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology at the University of London in Great Britain in 2008. Between 1993 And 2004 he was part-time faculty at the Ghent University and part-time in private practice. In 2004 he became full-time faculty at his alma mater, where he taught local anesthesia and dental and maxillofacial radiology till June 2012. In July 2012 he joined the University of Washington where he currently is the director of the division of oral and maxillofacial radiology. He is author of several peer-reviewed scientific papers, abstracts, book chapters, and he is a frequently asked speaker at dental conferences. He is the recipient of several awards and he is also associate editor of the Journal of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology and editor in chief of a Dutch-Flemish dental text book that appears on a yearly basis with new chapters every year. Besides his activities in radiology and pediatric dentistry, he is an expert in intraosseous anesthesia.
